CANON
History: Mituna grew up on a world called Beforus, and while much of his early life is unknown to us, we do know some things. At some point during Mituna's life a troll girl named Meenah, a member of his social circle, found some strange code on the Beforan moon which she called her home. Much like the writing Aradia found in the ruins on Alternia, this code would later be developed into a game similar to the one the Alternian trolls played. This game would require Mituna and his friends to enter into a place called "the medium" for the session of their game and like the Alternian trolls who played this game, each would earn a title and a planet of their own to quest on. Unlike the Alternian trolls, the game would take Mituna and his friends 3 years before ultimately losing and dying. However, despite their, and Mituna's, ultimate failure to complete the game, much happened over the course of it to shape Mituna's life and many of his relationships.

Like his descendant/ancestor Sollux, Mituna sacrificed himself in order to save his friends while playing this game, although in an action which cost him his coherence, rather than his life. Sollux and the Psionic both died sacrificing their lives to use their psionics for the benefit of others. Although the circumstances of Mituna's sacrifice are unknown due to a lack of reliable eye witness, the fact that he did commit some heroic deed is well known to his companions. In some event, during which he was alone with his moirail Kurloz, he overexerted his psionic abilities for the benefit of the rest of their party and caused significant brain damage to himself, to the point where his speech, balance, fine motor control, and coordination were effected.

Before, or sometime shortly after this accident Mituna entered into a matespritship with another troll named Latula. When talking about her relationship with Meenah, Latula commented that she felt like Mituna needed her. This suggests that they began dating sometime close to the time Mituna sustained his brain injury. Either because of this, or due to her own nature, Latula has been shown to be very overprotective of Mituna, even threatening to kill people while he sleeps nearby if they get too close. Complicating the relationship is Latula's own unrequited feelings for Kankri, another troll in their group, and hers for him as well. However at this point Mituna and Latula have been dating since the beginning of Alternia and he has been moirails with Kurloz for even longer, so his feelings for and his relationships with both of them are strong.

He is supposedly one of the few people Kurloz talks to and it has been suggested Mituna is most himself when speaking with Kurloz. Whether this is because of Kurloz mind control powers or not has yet to be seen. Out of all the Beforus trolls Mituna, Kurloz, and Meulin (Kurloz's longtime now ex-matesprit) are the only ones who respond to others frequently with hand mimes or reaction gifs suggesting the three of them are a particularly close trio among the group. Mituna's reaction gifs, being actually hand drawn depictions of himself, suggest a penchant and talent for art, though one that is now made more difficult due to his mental disabilities. In addition his association with Kurloz and Meulin make it likely that he can speak to them with the same hand gestures they use to speak with each other.

Unfortunately other than these relationships, and his involvement and title in the game there is not much canon information available in regards to Mituna's life, and although we can make assumptions based on what we know of his culture, statements from Aranea in her exposition, and the statements of his friends, we can't ever be certain of how or where he lived, or even who may have served as his guardian. We can assume he has hobbies similar to Latula and Kurloz, whom he has a deep association with. Likewise we can assume he had some interest in computers, like the other trolls in his bloodline. Finally we can assume he had some interest on online image boards and other communities because of the "4-chan" style boxes surrounding his dialogue, and finally because of his drawings, often inserted into his dialogue we can assume he did have an interest in art. Furthermore as for his life, we know he at least had the same lusus as Sollux, due to it's presence in the drea, bubbles where we first meet Mituna's character.

Personality: What we do know about Mituna, as well as what we know about his personality is based mostly on his companions perception of him before and after his accident. Although his behavior has changed as a result of his brain damage, the core of his personality remains. Particularly what we know of him is his somewhat crude sense of humor and flirtatious attitude. Likewise given the Captor affinity to mood swings, we can assume he is rather emotional as well.

Even when we see him in canon Mituna is frequently switching between, angry, jovial and contrite. While most of the time Mituna is cheerful, if not a bit of a joker, and lewd to boot, it is not unknown for him to fall into periods of self doubt and depression. That is not to say that he never acts out in frustration. Especially after his accident, he is seen to become frustrated with his shortcomings quite easily, but I believe this is more out of an inability to communicate this sense of frustration adequately than anything else. If you can't get this one part of a painting right no matter what your technique you might get a little mopey and start to doubt your abilities. If you have trouble with something as simple as walking, and repeatedly fall down on the way to the fridge because your legs won't listen to you, you are likely to move past the mopey and straight to upset.

However, once Mituna's anger has faded he immediately becomes contrite and reticent. With powers that cause him constant migraines, and can quickly become dangerous when he doesn't keep himself in check Mituna frequently feels the need to prove himself worthy and capable. He doesn't take kindly to insults of any kind, though it may not show in his response as he is more often seen being sure to stay silent in his anger instead of lashing out (at least pre-accident anyway), but in general he is more likely to react sad and withdrawn in response to any difficult personal challenges than with anger of any kind.

His sense of humor, on the other can be quite insulting at times, despite his own poor ability to take insults jokingly. When talking with Meenah in canon after his accident, Mituna is the picture of rude, insulting her, cussing at her, and using excessive sexual innuendo. While it's obvious such language is a common occurence with him, the mean spirited nature of his jibes at Meenah are more likely a product of his dislike of her than it is a natural state of his being. It has been mentioned before that Meenah used to argue frequently with Latula and that she even tried to kill Meulin on more than one occasion. Being Matesprits with Latula and friends with Meulin it makes sense that he wouldn't really like speaking with Meenah that much given these circumstance, and would therefore by much meaner when tasked with speaking with her.

When approached by Cronus, although Cronus was being rather rude himself Mituna was fluctuating more between apologetic and friendly banter than to the rudeness and anger he showed to Meenah before, suggesting although he is more than capable of being a loose canon and mean to people he dislikes in normal conversation he is more likely to just joke around albeit, in a pretty rude way. It's clear Mituna has no reservations about making lewd jokes, cursing, or making joking flirtatious advances. It's likely, this type of banter was common to him even before his accident, however, they were probably used a bit more reservedly, than they are currently.

INTO THE HEDGE
Seeming: Servant
Role: Darkling
Abilities: Playing off his Heir of Doom title, Mituna is a darkling who inflicts doom on those around him. At it's weakest this is something akin to tripping and other simple clumsy acts. How it's been used throughout his entire durance is at it's extreme end, where he serves as something of a biological weapon, infecting people near him, making them sick, even to the point of death. He (if it's acceptable to mods) still has some basic darkling abilities, like hiding in the shadows and moving stealthily, but the whole, infect you with deadly viruses thing is the only really strong power he has. Unfortunately for him.
Description: He still looks like himself in many ways, when you can get a good look at him, but overall his appearance is darker. When you look at him, it's always like looking at someone hiding in the shadows. Looking at him plainly, it's as though you're viewing him through a black and white tv. Dark gray skin, black hair, horns in varying shades of gray. His eyes, gray still, with no pupils to be seen, and his clothes all in black. If you stare too long the space around him seems to.. distort, the floor flowing towards one vanishing point and the walls to another.
Reasoning: Well, the kid is just straight up doomed. Captor's are cursed, it's just a fact. They can never be happy without something going wrong, and they don't get any happy endings. His title as the Heir of Doom only further seems to underscore this sorry state of existence. As Heir of Breath in the comic, one of the human characters, John, literally becomes air at one point. This is sort of my idea of what it might be for Mituna to become doom, and what would happen if someone with an interest in it (The Fae) were to strengthen this aspect of his personality.

MEMORIES
First Memory: Kissing Latula Pyrope, no idea who she is, just the feeling or being close to another person.

Another Five: 1. The Beforan concept of civic duty. Culling as caring, and an ingrained part of their society.
2. Meulin going deaf.
3. Finding Kurloz with his mouth all stitched.
4. Cronus and his stupid fake magic.
5. Entering a game where nothing makes sense.

SAMPLE 1

Velicoraptors aren't a species commonly found on Beforus. Mituna was not only surprised to find one loudly screeching outside his recuperacoon, but also a bit puzzled as to how it got there, in addition to wondering what the hell it even was. It was a strange creature, like he'd never seen before, even at the zoo, and appeared to be evolved from some kind of bipedal lizard and or reptilian like bird, which was obviously insane given that any species worth anything was evolved from insects, as was only proper, but that was beyond the point. What was the point was that a large leathery and in some parts feathered body with sharp teeth was reaching into the tiny hole that was the entrance to his recuperacoon with it's stubby arms in an attempt to injure the young yellowblood, if not eat him entirely.

His options were limited. He could kill the creature and then turn his body over for scientific discovery, or he could subdue the creature and then turn it over for scientific discovery. Both ways eliminated the possibility of simply blowing it up entirely, which meant there'd be no bloody mess along his walls to clean up, but also unfortunately meant killing it safely from a distance was out. He huddled further into the base of his coon as the creature continued to growl and hiss at him from the outside. Knock it to the wall, hit it's head to knock it out. It was the best plan of action, but the creature was moving around the room now and it was moving fast, with it's legendary velociraptor speed of which he knew nothing. If he couldn't knock it out with the first hit, then he wasn't sure he'd be able to kill it another not-lazer explosion way without getting bit, and hey as far as he knew, this was some kind of lizard-bird monster were curse. All the more reason to try knocking it out before going in for the kill.

He took a breath, gathering the last of his resolve before, psionically focusing his energy to throw the creature into the nearest hard surface, shooting into the air to better observe it at the same time. He may have still been in his jammies, which were still covered in the sopor's calming presence, but he was ready for action. For science. he thought dramatically, assured that it was a totally neat call to action, instead of the really dorky start to a very strange battle, which was really just am improbable start to a poor application sample. His battle cry uttered (in his own head) Mituna leapt onto the scene, and was dismayed to find, although his attack on the raptor had been successful, it was far from knocked out, and even worse, had hit his art supplies, forever ruining the picture he'd painted of the lovely Latula Pyrope, and no, painting pictures of people without their consent was not creepy no matter what Meulin told him.

In fact it would probably be fine as long as no one else ever found out about it or saw it ever again, and despite that train of thought he still found his anger growing to see the raptor's destruction of his masterpiece (even though it was really his own fault for throwing the raptor over there in the first place). He grit his teeth, and stopped himself from shouting a "You bastard!" to the creature, because then he would have been talking to himself.

The strength with which he slammed the creature into the wall a second time, thankfully before it could get on it's feet again due to slippery paint now being everywhere, did all the talking for him. The creature flew across the room in a blur of yellow and magenta paint, flinging more of the mess onto the carpet on its way toward the wall before hitting with a sickening crack that knocked all the paint off it's skin entirely. With a caw-like sound of pain, the creature died. Sliding down the wall to the floor of Mituna's coon-room, the yellowblood knew he had won this battle, and from the looks of his room he'd also gotten a great idea for a wicked awesome installation piece.

SAMPLE 2

Really though, it's not like he didn't know painting pictures about people without their permission was kind of odd and more than a little stalkerish. He knew he was in the wrong to do it. He knew, even while he was making it, that he would never show it to her or anyone. It had just slipped out when he was chatting with Meulin, really! He had been talking with her about something mundane when he'd mentioned spilling teal paint on his clothes. One thing had lead to another, and before he knew it he was telling her about the picture. She'd chided him, told him to toss it, and something about earning "-50 points from his ship." He had listened to her, agreeing for the most part, but still, he hadn't thrown the portrait away.

He didn't really feel guilty for painting it when he glanced at it. He just felt the way he always felt when thinking about Latula, confused and hopeful and just a little sad. When he looked at her, he felt a pull he couldn't explain, like he was supposed to be somewhere he wasn't. He sighed, looking at the ruined canvas before him. Paints of red, yellow, and teal covered most of the picture, making the once glossy shades and knowing smile of the girl portrayed

Making it had been an accident really. When he was bored he drew, when he was sad he drew, and when he didn't want to think about whatever confusing feeling was on his mind, he drew. Before he knew it his hand had just started sketching her. It was almost like in painting he could give name to the feeling he otherwise could not. He put the portrait down, picking up a rag to begin cleaning the pain off his room. He told himself he would toss it or rework it later, but he never did.

Eventually he ended up shoving the picture into some unseen corner of his room. He never really looked at it, but he'd glance to the spot sometimes and know it was there. Really, if he was being honest with himself he could give name to that feeling, but he didn't have the guts for that yet. Maybe someday soon he would though.
